Laminate

The Construction of Laminate
Laminate flooring is made up of multiple layers that are bonded together through heat and pressure, the top layer laminate is a clear, protective coating that is scratch-resistant.

In comparison to hardwood, engineered or ceramic tile flooring, laminate is significantly cheaper to purchase and install. This makes it a budget-friendly choice for homeowners looking to update or enhance their spaces on a budget.

A Floating Floor system generally over an underlay also gives good sound reduction and comfort underfoot.

The Versatility of Laminate
Laminate Flooring comes in a variety of plank sizes, designs, finishes and thicknesses giving it the flexibility to suit most requirements.

The affordable price and ease of installation make Laminate Flooring a very popular flooring option. With less sub floor preparation requirements than other premium wood floors and glue down products, Laminate flooring offers a quick and cost friendly way of transforming rooms.

There are products available with both scratch resistant and waterproof coatings (Waterproof from the surface only, not underneath the floating floor, if the perimeter is fully sealed after flooring installation).

With the option of colour matching accessories (Scotia Beads, Skirting Boards and Threshold Strips) the flooring gets a seamless finish to the perimeter without having to remove skirting boards.

The Installation of Laminate
Laminate flooring is one of the easier flooring systems to install, lending itself to DIY enthusiasts and those wanting to save money on installation costs.

The innovative click system, traditionally installed onto a suitable underlay for the conditions of the room without the need for adhesives makes it a self-installation option without the need for too many specialist tools.

Laminate Flooring requires an expansion gap around the perimeter of the room, which can be hidden under the skirting boards if they are not on when the flooring is laid, or if skirting boards are already fitted there is the option of white or colour matching laminate scotia beads to hide the expansion gap on completion.

Typically, laminate is a long plank, and the joints are staggered to create a more natural finish.

It is recommended to follow manufacturer installation guidelines and to seek professional assistance if needed to ensure a proper and long-lasting installation.

However, there are still some technical aspects to consider, such as subfloor preparation and acclimation of the flooring before installation.
